I see a lot of web sites saying “Happy Memorial Day”. I don’t think that’s appropriate. This is a day of solumn remembrance, not happiness.

There’s also a lot of talk about Google actually noticing Memorial Day. Google has never put up a special logo for Memorial Day. And they still haven’t. They’ve put up a yellow ribbon, which to me signifies their hope that the troopss are brought back soon (i.e. end the wars sooner rather than later). Google doesn’t deserver kudos for the yellow ribbon logo.
