Andrea Conte Says I’m A “Hater”

Well, the First Lady (and I guess I’m using that term loosely, since she wasn’t very ladylike) of the Great State of Tennessee didn’t call me a hater directly. She called Metro Charter Amendment 1 “legislating hate”, and by extension, anyone who supports it, a hater.
How dare she.
In an obvious photo op, she and a bunch of other anti-English folks went down to the Howard Building today to vote early in the referendum on making English the official language of Nashville.
During the interview for the TV cameras, Conte says that the government shouldn’t legislate hate. I don’t know what schools she went to, but logic must not have been in her course of study.
What she and no one else against this amendment has been able to explain is how this doesn’t bring people together. If you come to this country to live, and don’t speak the language, how do you expect to get along? How to you expect to assimilate? How do you expect to be united if you don’t choose to learn our language and our ways?
Voting for this amendment doesn’t mean you hate foreigners; it means that Metro business must be conducted in English.
The real opposition to this comes from folks who want to see our country overrun by illegal aliens, and want to make sure that they have every government service available to the illegal aliens that are available to citizens. This amendment would at least prevent some of that.
So, no Ms. Conte. I’m not a hater. I’m a lover. I’m a lover of this country. Actually, now that I think about it, I do hate one thing: I hate the fact that we’re becoming a country of factions speaking their own language; that will ultimately lead to the fall of this country if we don’t stop it.
