An Historic Inauguration

The inauguration of the 44th President of the United States is an historic occasion. Fittingly, it’s getting a lot of coverage in the legacy press.
But it’s getting a lot of coverage in other non-traditional outlets (e.g. ESPN), which got me to wondering why?
The peaceful transfer of power in a country is always an historic event. Where other countries have turmoil and fighting in the streets when a new leader comes into power, the United States hasn’t been subjected to that. Where other countries are subject to coups d’état, our Constitution has held up for over 200 years.
Four years ago, and eight years ago, the inaugurations of George W. Bush were also historic events. I just don’t understand why this one is more historic.
