Post Racism

If Barack H Obama does indeed become the president elect on November 4, then I don’t want to ever hear the word racism again.
Obama’s supporters are constantly claiming that if he’s not elected, it’ll be because of racism. Therefore, if he is elected, to me, that’ll prove that racism wasn’t a factor.
If, by some miracle, John McCain squeaks out a victory, we won’t hear the end of how racist we are. It’s sadly ironic how the party that’s supposed to be so open minded can’t ever accept the fact that some people just don’t like Obama’s socialist tendencies. That’s not racist; that’s judging someone on the content of his character… which is what I thought we were all supposed to do?
Will people vote against Obama because of his race? Sadly, yes. But here’s an exercise for you: will that be more or less people who will vote against McCain because he’s white? I daresay that more people will vote for Obama because he’s black than will vote for McCain because he’s white.
I’ve always maintained that racism is bad, no matter if you’re black or white or whatever color. But I think in this election we’ve legitimized black-against-white racism while decrying white-against-black racism. Both types are despicable.
Unfortunately, it’s politically incorrect to point that out.
