“This Ain’t No Rag”

Charlie Daniels had a song out a few years ago called “This Ain’t No Rag (It’s A Flag)”. Watching some of the USA’s Olympic athletes, you wouldn’t know it wasn’t a rag.

I’ve seen the flag used as a towel (more or less) by a bronze (bronze: the second loser) medal winner. Not only did she drape it around her sweaty shoulders, when she we went into the crowd to her mom, she drug the flag on the ground when she came back up to the track. Disgraceful.

USA fans in the stands aren’t much better. They must think the flag is a decoration or something, judging by the way they treat it.

Each person on the USA Olympic team should be given instruction in the proper display and treatment of the flag so that they know how to show respect to it should they win a gold medal. I guess this isn’t being taught in schools these days, so someone should teach them.

Oh, while I’m at it, they need to learn how to act during the playing of the National Anthem. Just standing there looking dumb isn’t what you’re supposed to do.

Maybe they need to get Kobe Bryant to explain to them how to act.

Now, here’s Charlie Daniels’ song:
